Training and First Exhibitions
Born on February 2, 1950 in Gavirate (Varese), the artist began his training at the painting school of the Sforza Castle and continued at the Brera Academy, which he left in 1972. Already at the age of sixteen he organized a personal exhibition at the Galleria Ca' Vegia in Varese, presenting spatula works depicting landscapes, farmhouses, flowers and stagnant waters, themes linked to his native lake.

Successes and Critical Recognitions
He took part in several group exhibitions, including the Premio Nazionale Varese Arte, and in 1970 he held a second solo show at the Galleria Ghiggini with nudes influenced by De Pisis and Bonnard and Sicilian landscapes. Gian Franco Maffina praised his technique and emotional reaction to the landscapes of the South. In 1972 he exhibited at the Galerie L'Angle Aigu in Brussels with critical success, receiving the appreciation of Renato Guttuso for his technical skills and artistic commitment.
Presented by Renato Guttuso
'Dear Pedretti, although you are very young, your work already offers some sure elements to judge your uncommon gifts. One cannot help but be struck by the certainty with which your sign, your notes of color define a landscape, a figure, a whole in its essential features; by the attitude with which your drawing has the ability to penetrate the form, to investigate it with precision, without falling into minutely academic analysis. Today your work is at a very serious point, and it seems to me that your recent paintings contain new elements compared to the happiness and ease of your previous paintings. There is the awareness of a new commitment and of new difficulties. It is the premise of a leap forward.'

Period of Experimentation and Innovation
Return to Naturalism and Traditional Influences in the 1980s
Marco Meneguzzo highlights Pedretti's naturalism, influenced by Constable, Segantini and Morlotti, and his ability to combine chromatic scansions and informal gestures. In the 1980s, the artist abandoned contemporary avant-gardes to return to nature and visual memory, focusing on symbolic landscape details and revitalizing romantic traditions through transparencies obtained with resins and paint.

Azzurro Amazzonia
Gli anni fra il 2000 e il 2005 rappresentano una stagione creativa particolarmente interessante che segna il successo critico ottenuto con il ciclo espositivo di Azzurro Amazzonia, presentato in diversi ed importanti Musei sudamericani.
THE VENICE BIENNALE

L'artista oggi
The artist continues to work actively between Gavirate and his beloved Varigotti, a suggestive seaside town where he spends much of his time. Varigotti is not only a personal refuge, but also an inexhaustible source of creative inspiration, so much so that he has dedicated an entire collection of works entitled "Varigotti Live". This series captures the beauty and essence of the seascape, reflecting the artist's deep emotional bond with this place.
Despite the years and the various artistic phases, the attachment to his homelands remains strong. Gavirate and Varigotti continue to influence his art, offering new ideas and panoramas that feed his creativity.
This constant connection with his geographical roots testifies to his dedication to keeping alive the dialogue between place and artistic creation, confirming that the lands he loves are still the beating heart of his artistic production today.
